Lockport man pleads guilty in beating

LOCKPORT – Chad A. Michalak, who allegedly beat a Lockport man into unconsciousness on Dec. 14, 2012, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge Friday in Niagara County Court.

Michalak, 32, of Elmwood Avenue, Lockport, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree assault, and was allowed to remain free on $7,500 bail pending sentencing March 27 by Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas.

Lockport police charged Michalak with entering a home on Price Street and attacking the resident, whose two female guests included Michalak’s girlfriend.

After confronting the woman, Michalak, who said Friday he has been treated for “explosive anger disorder,” attacked the man, knocking him down and causing his head to break a glass coffee table. He then allegedly kicked the victim in the head repeatedly. The man said he had a broken nose, a missing tooth and broken braces.
