IDA approves tax breaks for Youngstown apartments

WHEATFIELD – The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency board approved a 15-year property tax and sales tax break Wednesday for a planned $3.4 million apartment building in Youngstown.

The 30-unit structure is to be erected on the Youngstown Cold Storage site, 710 Nancy Price Blvd., after demolition of the century-old vacant fruit warehouse there.

The project is being developed by David Burke of Burke Homes, Hamburg, and David Pawlik of Creative Site Structures, Buffalo.

The payment-in-lieu-of-taxes deal, or PILOT, is estimated to save them about $750,000 over the next 15 years.

Wilson Town Supervisor Joseph A. Jastrzemski was the only IDA member to vote against the project.

Henry M. Sloma, who returned to the board after a year’s absence, abstained.
