LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of robbing and assaulting three men on Sept. 12.

Michael Maye, 29, of Whitney Avenue, denied three counts each of third-degree robbery and second-degree assault. A 16-year-old co-defendant , Mason B. Denison, 16, of Linwood Avenue, pleaded not guilty to the same charges Friday.

Denison is awaiting sentencing for third-degree burglary in connection with a May 15 break-in at a home on Linwood Avenue.

Assistant District Attorney Claudette S. Caldwell said Maye and Denison allegedly struck three men with “blunt objects” near the Hometown Market at 15th Street and Pierce Avenue in the Falls, and stole cash and credit cards from the victims. A tape from a store surveillance camera is part of the evidence in the case, Caldwell said.

She added that Maye has a separate drug and gun possession case pending in Niagara Falls City Court.
