NIAGARA FALLS – More than 100 members of the 914th Airlift Wing of the Air Force Reserve, headquartered at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, were deployed to southwest Asia Thursday, the air base disclosed Friday.

Their assignment is to maintain military aircraft, perform medical evacuations and deliver combat cargo, ranging from food and water to ammunition and medical supplies, to front-line troops.

“Our Western New York reservists are trained to the same readiness levels as active-duty airmen,” said Col. Walter Gordon, commander of the 914th.
