Wojcicki will receive Making a Difference Award

Michael Wojcicki, athletic director and physical education teacher at Mary Queen of Angels Catholic School in Cheektowaga, has been chosen to receive the 2014 Sister Lucille Socciarelli-Father Sturm Making a Difference Award, the Foundation of the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo announces.

The award will be presented at the annual Making a Difference Dinner on Jan. 30 in the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

The dinner is the foundation’s largest annual fundraiser for Catholic education.

Guests will be Bishop Emeritus Edward U. Kmiec and New York State Regent Robert M. Bennett, who will be awarded the Bishop’s Medal for their support of Catholic education locally.

The Making a Difference Award, presented each year to an outstanding Catholic school teacher, was established by television newsman Tim Russert.

Wojcicki, a Depew resident, has taught at Mary Queen of Angels School for 23 years.
