As conditions worsened just after noon Tuesday, a driving ban was issued in the Village of Kenmore. But the ban was downgraded an hour later to a travel advisory warning against unnecessary driving.

Mayor Patrick Mang also declared a state of emergency in the village after consulting with Police Chief Peter J. Breitnauer. Village Court and Tuesday’s Village Board meeting were cancelled.

Breitnauer said he expected the Village Board meeting to be rescheduled for later in the week so trustees could vote on hiring a new police officer in time to send him to the police academy, which begins Jan. 20.
