WINTER ACTIVE SATURDAYS: Children ages 3 to 12 are invited to take part in Winter Active Saturdays, a series of fun, free events, from 10 to 11 on Saturday mornings throughout January starting today at the Elmwood Franklin School, 104 New Amsterdam Ave. Space is limited. For children ages 3 to 6, there will be Saturday story hours featuring a book reading followed by a themed craft activity and a light snack. BLOOD DONATION: The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers for blood donations from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. today in the main hall of the Marilla Community Center, 1810 Two Rod Road, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today in the Bloodmobile at Dunkin’ Donuts, 5760 Transit Road, Depew. On Sunday, staff will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school auditorium at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, 6630 Luther St., Niagara Falls, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Bloodmobile at Family Video, 76 East Ave., Lockport. On Monday, staff will be on hand from 12:30 to 6 p.m. in the lower level at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 510 Oakwood Ave., East Aurora, and from 1 to 6 p.m. in the main hall at Faith Lutheran Church, 2730 Transit Road, Newfane. IMAGINE LECTURE SERIES: Dr. Thomas Reigstad, author of “Mark Twain in Buffalo,” will be the speaker in the series titled “Imagine a Healthy, Wealthy and Sustainable Community: Why the Arts Matter,” from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Ring of Knowledge area of the Central Library, One Lafayette Square. The presentation follows a noon video, “How to Look at and Understand Great Art.”
