The Buffalo community’s Kwanzaa celebration culminated Wednesday with Imani, or faith, a day of quiet reflection and a focus on the lessons of the weeklong celebration.

The theme of Buffalo Kwanzaa 2013 was “The Reawakening of Our People.”

The celebration, which honors African heritage, got underway last Thursday with an opening ceremony that featured performances in Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts, 450 Masten Ave.

Based on seven core principles, the holiday was founded by Maulana Karenga in 1966–67.
