Man injured in home invasion near UB north campus

One man was taken to the hospital for treatment after he was pistol-whipped during a home invasion in Amherst Monday night, Amherst police reported.

The incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. Monday at the Villas on Rensch apartment complex located across the street from the University at Buffalo north campus, police said.

The victim, a 21-year-old Lackawanna man, was visiting his older brother when two men with handguns forced their way into the apartment and demanded money, police said.

The older brother escaped through a second-floor window and called police, but the assailants had fled the area.

The younger brother was transported to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of a head cut, police reported.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 689-1311.
