A Buffalo man was sentenced to three years in federal prison following his conviction on charges of possessing a firearm and marijuana, U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. reported Monday.

Tyrone Nance, 32, who was on supervised release from a 2009 conviction for conspiracy to distribute marijuana, was found to have a shotgun hidden under the hood of his car and marijuana stashed in the freezer of his home when federal probation officers searched his house and car on Timon Avenue in November 2011, federal officials reported.

Nance was additionally sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge William M. Skretny to 18 months in prison for violating his supervised release in addition to the three years on the current conviction, authorities said.
