Teen killed in fatal Allegany County crash

BOLIVAR – A 19-year-old Allegany County man was killed and three people were injured Sunday morning when a driver lost control of his vehicle on an icy roadway, struck several trees and went over an embankment before coming to a stop in a creek bed, State Police reported.

Troopers say the crash took place at 10:45 a.m. on California Hollow Road in the Allegany County Town of Bolivar, when a vehicle driven by Nicholas Austin, 17, of the hamlet of Little Genesee, went off the road.

A passenger, Trevor Randall, also of Little Genesee, was pulled from the vehicle and taken to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, where he was pronounced dead.

Austin; Christian Slater, 19, of Friendship; and Michael Updyke, 16, of Allentown, another hamlet in Allegany County; all were taken to the same hospital with minor injuries. The accident is under investigation by troopers from the Amity station.
