A kitchen fire in a Town of Newfane home early today sent the homeowner to the hospital with smoke inhalation, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire at 6536 Drake Settlement Road was reported around 2:45 a.m., deputies said. Fire companies from Miller Hose and Olcott responded.

The unidentified homeowner was transported by Olcott Fire ambulance to Eastern Niagara-Newfane Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, said deputies, who are investigating the cause.
