Utility work leads to right lane closure on Route 5 in Amherst.

Motorists traveling on Main Street in Williamsville may encounter some delays as a result of a westbound lane closure on Route 5 near Union Road.

The right lane will be closed tonight until 6 a.m. and will be closed down again between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday to accommodate utility work.

State Department of Transportation officials want to remind motorists that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone, and that two or more convictions could result in the suspension of an offending motorist’s driver’s license.
