The Erie County Fair has something to celebrate. It has ranked as the 11th-largest fair in North America, according to CarnivalWarehouse.com, a ranking that includes all county and state fairs, exhibitions, livestock and rodeo shows in the United States and Canada.
The Erie County Agricultural Society will celebrate the ranking at 1 p.m. Friday in the Carousel room, near the Historical Building, on the fairgrounds, 5280 South Park Ave., Hamburg.
In August, the fair set a record for visitors with 1,160,184, up 10 percent from the previous record, set in 2011.
“The ranking is quite an accomplishment for the Buffalo-Niagara region when you consider that the Erie County Fair out ranks most of the state fairs in the United States including the New York State Fair,” said Jessica Underberg, assistant fair manager.
