A 16-year-old city resident was shot in the leg early Sunday as he and two friends got into a taxi cab on Cambridge Avenue near East Ferry Street.
Ramere McIlwaine was discharged from the Erie County Medical Center after treatment for a gunshot wound to his right thigh, authorities said.
McIlwaine and two companions were just getting into the back seat of the taxi around 4:40 a.m. when an unknown person grabbed a door of the cab and fired a shot. The shot passed through McIlwaine’s thigh, police said.
The cabbie drove the injured teen to the hospital, police said.
Cambridge Avenue has been the scene of a number of shootings in recent years, including a fatal shooting on Oct. 4, police said.
