Pavilion man killed in collision with tractor-trailer

A 29-year-old Pavilion man was killed early today when his sport utility vehicle collided head-on with a tractor-trailer on Route 63 in the Town of Batavia.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office said John P. Dow died at the scene after the 2005 Chevrolet Envoy he was driving southbound collided with a Freightliner tractor-trailer driving north at 1:42 a.m. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the sheriff’s Crash Management Team.

Deputies are awaiting toxicology results on Dow, who may have failed to keep right, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The road was also wet at the time of the collision, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Iqbal S. Dhadda, 35, of Brampton, Ontario, was not seriously injured, the Sheriff’s Office said.

New York State Police, City of Batavia Police, Town of Batavia Fire Department and the Bethany Fire Department assisted at the scene.
