A thief who used a handwritten note and claimed to have a gun stole about $2,000 from the Key Bank branch in North Buffalo late Friday afternoon, Northwest District police said Saturday.

The robber walked into the Key Bank branch at 2318 Delaware Ave., just south of Hertel Avenue, at about 5:30 p.m. Friday, before handing over the note. Police said the person demanded $2,000, claimed to have a gun and had nothing to lose.

The bank robber fled in an unknown direction.
