LOCKPORT – With private operators backing away from the event, the city has stepped in to keep Lockport’s annual public New Year’s Eve celebration alive – “on a shoestring budget,” Alderman John Lombardi III said.

“Rockin’ the Locks” will be held in the City Hall parking lot on New Year’s Eve, with a midnight ball drop from a crane supplied by Clark Rigging and live music on the city’s portable stage from 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. by a local band, Rock Angel.

Lombardi said the city is trying to line up food and drink vendors for the event. Anyone interested should call the mayor’s office at 439-6665.
