LOCKPORT – Two Niagara Falls men pleaded not guilty Thursday in Niagara County Court to an indictment accusing them of taking part in the shooting of a 19-year-old Falls man Sept. 2.
Ronald A. McClellan Jr., 26, of Cedar Avenue, and Darrell L. Stewart, 31, of 19th Street, are charged with first-degree assault in the shooting of Leonard L. Sistrunk Jr. near Sixth Street and Pine Avenue.
Deputy District Attorney Doreen M. Hoffmann said Sistrunk was shot multiple times in the back with a rifle, with one round collapsing his lung. Police reported at the time that Sistrunk was wounded three times.
Police said the suspects followed Sistrunk from Buffalo to Niagara Falls after an argument. He called his mother, who went to her son’s home and saw him fighting with two men. Then a third man, in a car, pulled out a rifle and started shooting.
Stewart was arraigned earlier this month on a separate indictment that accused him of selling crack cocaine in Niagara Falls on Aug. 6 and 29.
