Town of Boston snowplow crews praised

Town of Boston Highway Superintendent Robert Telaak praised members of his snowplow crews for working around-the-clock to keep streets and roadways clear of the consistent lake-effect snowfall pounding this Southtowns municipality over the past several days.

“We’ve been very busy plowing snow,” said Telaak, who drew a sharp contrast to the relatively mild winters of the last couple of years when he addressed the Town Board on Wednesday night.

To date, he said, his crew has worked 199 hours of overtime, and the Highway Department has used 2,500 tons of salt and sand.

He noted both snowplows and hardworking employees have held up well, so far. He added that there have been a few “minor” issues so far, including a flat tire on a truck

Town Supervisor Martin Ballowe also praised the highway employees. “Excellent job plowing,” the supervisor said.

Ballowe added that he has a deeper appreciation for the task faced by highway employees in such severe weather after going along on a ride.
