Under the law, dog owners would pay more for violating the law as proposed by Ward 2 Alderman Ann McLaughlin, in which violat0ors will see fines of $25 for the first offense, $100 for the second and $250 for subsequent offenses. The law becomes effective Jan. 1.

The Council wioll hold a reorganization meeting on Jan. 2, when Mayor William Aiello, Ward 4 Alderman Steven Barnard) and Ward 7 Alderman Adam Jester are sworn into office. The meeting gets under way at 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building at 101 E. State St.
