Falls man pleads not guilty in knifing

LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Niagara County Court to an indictment accusing him of knifing another Falls man Sept. 29.

Alvin W. Baines, 41, of 68th Street, is charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the attack on John Blevins.

County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III held Baines in lieu of $20,000 bail. Court records show Baines has an address on Strauss Street in Buffalo, but he insisted in court that he has lived in the Falls for the past four years.
