A judge sentenced a Buffalo man to three to six years in prison last week for a knife attack on his girlfriend in North Buffalo.

State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges sentenced Tariq Molson, 36, of Perry Street, who had pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal possession of a weapon for the Aug. 25 attack on Sanders Road that resulted in a cut on the victim’s head.

Molson was sentenced as a second-felony offender because he had a conviction for first-degree manslaughter, according to Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III.

He had been sentenced in 1997 to six to 12 years in prison for fatally shooting a man who demanded drugs from him in the Commodore Perry Housing Project in December 1996. He was released from prison in February 2005.
