Kiko Alonso tweaks knee, questionable for Jags; Jones-Drew is doubtful

By Mark Gaughan

Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso was only able to work on a limited basis in Friday's practice due to a sore knee and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Jacksonville.

"Today he tweaked it," coach Doug Marrone said after the Bills' 90-minute session in the field house. "Obviously we list it like we did. Talking to him, in his mind he wants to play. I think we've got 48 hours, and we'll see how it goes."

If Alonso can't play, Marrone said Arthur Moats would play the middle linebacker spot.

Meanwhile in Jacksonville, Jaguars star running back Maurice Jones-Drew did not practice and is listed as doubtful. The Jags' top receiver, Cecil Shorts, was limited and is questionable. He told reporters he's hoping to play. Jags' starting safety Johnathan Cyprien (thigh) also is doubtful.

Moats, a fourth-year veteran, has started most of the season at the weak inside linebacker position.

"I'm definitely comfortable in the scheme," Moats said. "Kiko's a great player. He's been doing a lot of great things. If he doesn't play, I'll just go out and play my best."

Moats has seen minimal practice time this season at Alonso's middle position.

"Maybe just like two or three reps per team session," he said. "So I've been familiar with it. Ultimately, with us only carrying three inside linebackers I've always had to know the Mike. I'm definitely prepared for it."

Starting right guard Kraig Urbik is questionable with a foot injury. He was able to practice on a limited basis for the first time this week.

"I know this about Kraig, he's done everything he possibly can," Marrone said. "If it's even close that he can go, he'll go. He's a tough kid."

Reserve cornerback Brandon Smith is out.
