UB wrestling shut out by Iowa

The University at Buffalo wrestling team was defeated soundly by No. 3 ranked Iowa, 46-0, in Iowa City on Thursday night.

The Hawkeyes opened up the meet with a victory at 125 pounds as UB’s Max Soria was beaten by No. 4 ranked Cory Clark, 13-3. The Bulls Justin Farmer (133) and Nick Flannery (141) lost to two more ranked Hawkeyes in No. 3 Tony Ramos and No. 10 Josh Dziewa respectively.

Michael Kelly pinned Ryan Todora (149) in 4:03 and top ranked Derek St. John (157) pinned freshman Jake Campana in 2:02.

Four of the final five Iowa wrestlers were ranked in the nation’s top six. Angelo Malvestuto saw his record drop to 4-2 on the season as he was dropped at 197 by Sammy Brooks, 13-5.
