Orchard Park fender-bender results in DWI arrest

A 54-year-old motorist who hit another vehicle in the parking lot of an Orchard Park church was charged with felony drunken driving, police reported .

The accident was reported at about 8 p.m. Monday in a parking lot at South Buffalo Street and Thorn Avenue. Pauline T. Lawless, of Hamburg, told officers that she thought she had hit a curb – not a car, police said.

After failing field sobriety tests, Lawless was arrested and taken to the police station, where a breath test was administered. Her BAC was measured at .28, more than three times above the legal limit, police noted.

Lawless was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI and a felony count of DWI because of a previous conviction. She was released without bail, pending a January court appearance.
