Woman charged with running meth lab in her Cambria home

CAMBRIA – A Cambria woman was arrested in connection with a methamphetamine lab that authorities broke up Friday in Niagara County.

Leah McCabe, 34, was charged Friday with third-degree unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said. She also was charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child. The investigation is continuing and further charges are pending.

Investigators went to the home at 4890 Saunders Settlement Road Friday morning, after receiving a complaint that it housed a meth lab. Deputy Ray Tracy and investigators from the Niagara County Drug Task Force saw what they believed to be items used in making methamphetamine and an active lab near the furnace of the home, officials said.

The home was evacuated and the State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team was called in to dispose of the hazardous material.
