Erie County posts restaurant inspections info on website

The Erie County Department of Health on Wednesday began online posting its regular inspections of more than 3,500 local restaurants and other food-service facilities.

Access to the county’s Food Facility Inspection reports are now available through a link on the county Health Department web site at Dr. Gale Burstein, commissioner of health, said Wednesday that the website “has the most up-to-date and comprehensive restaurant and school cafeteria inspection reports available for public review in a very user-friendly format.”

Users can search the inspection reports by restaurant name, municipality or street name. Inspection results may also be sorted by restaurant or school cafeteria name, or by the most recent inspection date. The website also provides definitions of what constitutes a “critical”, “non-critical” or “repeat “violation.

“Our reports are available on our website within approximately two weeks of the inspectors’ actual onsite visit (and) reports from Jan. 1, 2012, to the present are included.” Burstein added.
