HEAP outreach slated for today in Tonawanda

As the winter season kicks in, outreaches for eligible applicants seeking government assistance to help pay gas and electric bills are set to begin in Erie County.

A Home Energy Assistance Program, or HEAP, outreach is planned for 9 a.m. today at the United Way of the Tonawandas, 34 Seymour St., City of Tonawanda. The HEAP outreach will be administered by employees of Erie County’s Social Services and Senior Services departments and is open to all income-eligible households.

Applicants are required to bring at least one form of identification for all members of their households and proof of income, including pay stubs, as well as current heating and electric bills.
