A street robbery Sunday evening on the near East Side left a 33-year-old Buffalo man with knife wounds to his face and leg, city police reported.

Jevon Gaiter told Ferry-Fillmore district officers that he was attacked by two people armed with a knife at 6:45 p.m. at James and Clare streets, near the intersection of Fillmore Avenue and Clinton Street.

Gaiter was stabbed in his right thigh and slashed on the left side of his face before the robbers took $50 cash and a cell phone.

The attackers fled in a blue minivan and Gaiter was being treated late Sunday in Buffalo General Hospital.
