Bianca Sirianni, co-owned Anthony’s Pizza and Subs

Bianca Sirianni, of South Buffalo, who operated a pizza and sandwich shop with her husband, died Saturday in Mercy Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 77.

Born in Colipietro, in Italy’s Abbruzzi region, the former Bianca D’Orazio came to Buffalo in 1955 and raised four sons. She began working in food service at the Ford Motor Co.’s Buffalo Stamping Plant in the Town of Hamburg in 1967, then became a cook at Danny Sansone’s Restaurant in Buffalo in 1975.

In 1979, she and her husband, Antonio, opened Anthony’s Pizza and Subs on Abbott Road, which she operated while he kept his job at M. Wile. Renowned for her fried dough with cheese, she retired and closed the shop in 1987 to care for her husband after he suffered a heart attack.

Mrs. Sirianni enjoyed cooking for others, gardening, knitting and helping with her grandchildren.

Her husband, Antonio, died in 1993.

Survivors include four sons, Diego, Alfredo, Anthony and Pietro; and a brother, Pasquale “Neno” D’Orazio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Victory Basilica, South Park Avenue at Ridge Road, Lackawanna.
