Cheektowaga man accused of firing gun at mother’s house

An 18-year-old Cheektowaga man was arrested after firing a handgun at his mother’s house following a long, heated argument, town police reported Wednesday.

A neighbor on Ridge Park Avenue called police at about 6 p.m. Tuesday to report that a man had just fired a shot from a handgun at a nearby house. A description of the man was given to responding officers, and Officer Garett Slawatycki located a man matching the description near Straley and Hedwig avenues, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Robert Kowalewski IV was charged with felony counts of criminal possession and use of a firearm, a felony count of reckless endangerment and a misdemeanor charge of illegal discharge of a firearm.

Following arraignment before Town Justice Paul Piotrowski, Kowalewski was sent to Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or a $100,000 bond.
