Lockport woman fears she was victimized

LOCKPORT – A 78-year-old Slayton Settlement woman told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies Tuesday that she tried to apply online for a $5,000 loan, but now feels she may have been a victim of fraud.

She told deputies that she was instructed to pay the company $250, which she did, and then made additional payments of $135 and $100. A total of $485.

The woman said she applied through a site called Cash USA and after further review learned that there had been multiple fraud complaints against the company and the company may not be located in the United States.
