Betty J. Westra, former Muck Motors executive

Betty J. Westra, of Getzville, a former vice president of Muck Motors, the area’s oldest Ford dealer, died Thursday in Niagara Hospice, Lockport. She was 86.

Born Betty J. Muck in Getzville, she was the daughter of Fred and Amelia Muck, who founded the auto dealership in 1921.

She attended a one-room elementary school on Stahl Road in Getzville and was a graduate of Tonawanda High School.

Mrs. Westra was active in the dealership until she retired in the early 1980s.

In retirement, she and her husband maintained a winter home in Englewood, Fla.

An avid golfer, she won the women’s club championship at Tan Tara Country Club.

Her husband of 60 years, Richard E., who invented and manufactured a magnetic traffic light viewer, died in 2011.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Downing and Laurie Urich; a brother, William Muck; and four grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1700 North French Road, Getzville.
