That was a nasty wind storm blowing through the region this morning, with gusts peaking at 48 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
And it is not going to let up soon, as a wind advisory remains in place through the afternoon for Erie and Niagara counties.
“We could see winds between 45 to 50 miles an hour,” meteorologist Dan Kelly said.
The silver lining is that the high pressure system causing the winds also promises sunshine, for the start of the weekend and more moderate temperatures, he said.
But there is a chance of rain on Sunday.
The forecast calls for temperatures to reach 49 degrees Fahrenheit today and rise to the mid-60s on Sunday. Temperatures are then expected to drop into the 30s during the week, with partly cloudy conditions.
“We’re going to see a quick change after Sunday,” Kelly said.
