At 81, Loretta Lynn is perhaps the longest enduring female singer in country music. She’s been at it since 1960, when she launched a career that would prove to be one of the most inspired and inspiring in the idiom’s history. A remarkably strong woman, Lynn rose from humble beginnings in the coal mining town of Paintsville, Ky., to the heights of country stardom. Along the way, she authored a half-dozen books, raised six children and toured the country consistently.

Lynn’s music has made several generational jumps in terms of its appeal, the most recent of which involved Jack White of the White Stripes, who produced her outstanding “Van Lear Rose” album.

Lynn has slowed down a bit, to the point where each show becomes a special and increasingly rare event. One such event takes place at 8 tonight, when Lynn comes to the Riviera Theatre (67 Webster St., North Tonawanda). Tickets are $59-$69 (box office,
