Buffalo man arrested in West Seneca copper theft

A 29-year-old Buffalo man was taken into custody by West Seneca Police Officer Anthony Andolina as he tried to sneak out of a wooded area near the National Grid property at 885 Indian Church Road that he had broken into and stolen copper wiring about 2:15 a.m. today, police said.

The officer said Eric T. Gervase of North Ogden Street admitted to him that he had cut a hole in the fence around the utility company property to steal the wiring which was seized at the scene of the arrest.

Gervase was released after being arraigned in West Seneca Town Court on charges of felony criminal mischief, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal trespass, possession of burglar’s tools and petit larceny. He faces further court proceedings Friday evening.
