A United Airlines Flight with 53 passengers and a crew of three from Chicago landed safely at Buffalo Niagara International Airport at 1:35 p.m. Friday despite a defective cockpit indicator light.

C. Douglas Hartmayer, spokesman for the Niagara Frontier Transporation Authority, said the flight crew was concerned because the indicator device did not properly indicate whether the landing gear was locked and ready for landing. After extensive checks, the crew confirmed the gear was set for landing and the plane landed safely.
