Snow in the Southern Tier this morning

Snow was on the ground this morning in some parts of the Southern Tier, but don’t worry about breaking out the shovels just yet.

An inch was reported in Olean, and six-tenths of an inch in Whitesville – south of Wellsville in Allegany County, according to meteorologist Dan Kelly of the National Weather Service in Buffalo.

There could be some isolated higher amounts, he added.

Early Saturday morning, there’s a slight chance of widespread snow that could include metro Buffalo Niagara. But, again, shovels not required.

“Maybe a dusting, if that, of accumulation” Kelly said.

As temperatures warm up Saturday, to the upper 40s to perhaps 50, any snow could change over to rain.

Early next week, temperatures are expected to drop off to the low- to mid-30s by Tuesday. “Those are high temperatures,” Kelly said.
