Curtis C. Schultz, retired sheriff’s sergeant

Curtis C. Schultz, of West Falls, a retired Erie County sheriff’s sergeant, died Sunday after a two-month battle with leukemia. He was 60.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Cheektowaga and earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Jamestown Community College.

He joined the Erie County Sheriff’s Office in 1978 as a deputy in the Holding Center, then was assigned to the Court Division and road patrol. He often worked in traffic control at Buffalo Bills games. He was promoted to sergeant in 2002 and retired in 2010.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, the former Mary Jane Gluszek; two daughters, Amber and Kim; and his father, Norman J.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Lombardo Funeral Home, 3060 Abbott Road, Orchard Park.
