Three charged in separate DWI incidents

A Wyoming County man was charged with DWI following a one-car accident early this morning in the Town of Wales.

A vehicle allegedly driven by Benjamin C. Francis, 42, of Castile became lodged against a guardrail on Big Tree Road at Hunters Creek Road, according to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. Francis reportedly suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment before being charged with DWI and other traffic violations.

A female passenger in the car was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC with nonlife-threatening injuries.

In Orchard Park, police made two DWI arrests early this morning. After observing a northbound vehicle on Abbott Road apparently failing to stay in its lane, Officer Amy Pfeffer stopped the vehicle, driven by Stephen Graham, 53, of Blasdell. Graham was charged with misdemeanor DWI, failure to stay in lane and refusal to take a breath screening test.

Within an hour of that arrest, Officer Brian Gehring also saw a car allegedly moving erratically while northbound on Abbott Road. Brian Keefe, 38, of Orchard Park, was charged with felony DWI after producing an ID-only license with 10 active revocations and suspensions, police reported. He also was charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation, and several traffic violations. Keefe was jailed pending his arraignment.
