LOCKPORT – A Herkimer man, who already had pleaded guilty to credit card fraud charges in Erie and Montgomery counties, admitted to another in Niagara County Court Friday.
Byron S. Hickman, 24, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and was scheduled for sentencing Jan. 31. However, County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas told him she will simply add a year to the sentences he received in the other counties.
Hickman was sentenced to a year behind bars in Erie County, and six months in jail, to be followed by 4½ years of probation, in Montgomery County.
Assistant District Attorney Laura T. Bittner said Hickman had about 10 fake charge cards, which he used last November in a shopping spree in the Fashion Outlets mall in the Town of Niagara.
