Manna would back smart development
Having just read The News’ endorsement of Barry Weinstein for Amherst town supervisor, as an Amherst resident I had to respond. Although Weinstein’s tax record is the focus of the endorsement, I think the downplaying of the bad development that has become the new norm is irresponsible.
People move to Amherst to have a nice place to live, and don’t expect to find their neighborhood aesthetics completely changed by monstrous development in their back yards. Lower taxes are great, but not at the expense of the character and charm of our town.
Mark Manna is endorsed by the Amherst Conservative Committee, Amherst Police Club and the Good Government Club, and he was part of the town’s tax cuts and service arrangements. Manna will give Amherst smart, non-invasive development while keeping taxes low and services high. He has supported residents on numerous issues, making Amherst a desirable place to live. He’s the guy who can support the residents of the town while keeping the town itself manageable, strong and progressive.
