Bernard T. “Bernie” Grucza, the jailed murder suspect in the fatal stabbing of Toys R Us assistant store manager Larry Wells, faces arraignment on criminal contempt charges at 7 p.m. Thursday in Elma Town Court for violating an order of protection obtained by his estranged wife.

Mary Murray, spokeswoman for the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, said Grucza, 38. who had been a regional loss protection manager for the toy store chain, was charged Oct. 25 for allegedly making “a few” telephone calls to his estranged wife, Heather, from the Erie County Holding Center days earlier.

On Oct. 21 Grucza was indicted by an Erie County grand jury on second-degree murder charge for the fatal stabbing of Laurence C. “Larry” Wells in the Hamburg store where they both worked.

Heather Grucza obtained an order of protection against her estranged husband following an alleged domestic incident earlier in June, officials said.
