Patrick Sportelli

Candidate for Lancaster Town Councilman

Lines on Ballot: Republican

Age: 30

Number of years living in town: 6

Occupation/Employer: Senior Compliance Analyst at a local financial institution

Top campaign platform agendas:

Lower taxes while maintaining services important in the town. We can do this through a “good government“ approach to town government. The two agenda items go hand in hand. I propose that we reform the hiring process so that we attract the best qualified people to work for our town. To do this, we need to utilize the town website, and other local career websites. Bottom line, the hiring process needs to be reformed; this goes for department heads, general employees, as well as those who sit on boards and committees.

Biggest issues facing the town:

Managing our continued growth. Lancaster is fortunate that it continues to be a growing community while many communities in Western New York are not. Our town has faced infrastructure needs that have gone unaddressed, and there have been problems in the past that should have been addressed sooner, i.e. water pressure, electric outages, and traffic problems. Lancaster should have a long term strategy in regards to planning so that issues can be better predicted and addressed as they come. Bottom line, we must look to do more with less.
