Plea talks afoot in two Niagara County fatals

LOCKPORT – Plea bargain talks in the chambers of State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. Tuesday didn’t resolve the separate cases of two drivers facing charges in connection with fatal crashes in Niagara County.

Defense attorney Joel L. Daniels was representing both defendants: Taylor J. Clause, 18, of Steele Circle, Town of Niagara, and Frederick J. Lederhouse, 61, of Youngstown Road, Porter.

Clause’s car missed a curve on Walmore Road on the Tuscarora Indian Reservation about 5:50 a.m. May 19 and struck a utility pole before rolling over several times. Passenger Jasmin P. Dubuc, 19, of Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls, was ejected and killed.

Lederhouse’s pickup truck rear-ended a car on Wilson-Burt Road in Wilson at 4 p.m. March 27, rolling the car into a ditch and killing its driver, Cathy World, 58, of Wilson. The pickup then crossed the center line and T-boned the oncoming car of Ronald Zauner, 69, of Wilson, who was killed by the impact on the driver’s door.

Neither Clause nor Lederhouse has been indicted so far.
