Bruce W. Carlson, an executive with Delaware North Cos. for almost 30 years, died Saturday in Buffalo General Medical Center after complications from surgery. He was 66.
Born in Jamestown, Mr. Carlson earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from the University at Buffalo. He was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, an international business honor society.
Early in his career, Mr. Carlson was vice president of finance for Andco Inc. in Buffalo and was audit manager for Arthur Andersen and Co. in Rochester.
A certified public accountant, he joined Delaware North in 1986 as director of internal audit. Shortly thereafter, he was named vice president and controller of Concession Air Corp. – now known as Delaware North Cos. Travel Hospitality Services.
Mr. Carlson was named corporate controller in 1991 and Delaware North vice president in 1999. He assumed his current position of vice president of financial strategy in 2011.
Widely known in the community, as well as in the banking industry, the Grand Island resident could be found on a golf course or vacationing with his family when he wasn’t working.
Survivors include his wife, the former Angelyn “Annie” Fabiano; two daughters, Kristina Decker and Sara; and two sons, Andrew and Matthew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. today in St. Stephen Catholic Church, 2100 Baseline Road, Grand Island.
