Dorothy Hutchinson of East Aurora died Wednesday in Our Lady of Victory Medical Facility, Lackawanna. She was 96.
She and her husband, the late Charles L. Hutchinson, were married in 1947 in St. Jude’s Episcopal Church, Buffalo.
She served on many committees and held leadership roles in the church. She continued her relationship with the church after her husband’s death in 2000.
Mrs. Hutchinson was an executive secretary for the accounting firm of Ernst & Ernst until her retirement in the mid-1960s.
In 1961, she served as the worthy matron of Lackawanna Chapter 502, Order of the Eastern Star.
She and her husband were members of the Clan Donald Society and traveled to Scotland and regional clan events. They also were avid supporters of the Boy Scouts of America.
Mrs. Hutchinson was a member of East Aurora Garden Club and served as president and in other leadership roles. In 2012, she was accorded “life membership” in the organization.
She was instrumental in helping to establish and fund Hospice in East Aurora, donating profits from antique and garage sales that were held at her home.
