OLAF FUB SEZ: Fashion advice from costume designer Edith Head, born Edith Claire Posener on this date in 1897, “Your dresses should be tight enough to show you’re a woman and loose enough to show you’re a lady.”

Cackling witches

And skeletons abound,

Pale shrieking ghosts

Rise up from the ground,

Skeletons jumping

And hissing black cats,

Grim moonlit clouds

And the flutter of bats,

Pumpkins a-blazing

Wide-grinned angry eyes,

Monstrous children chant

“Trick or treat” cries!

The damp frigid winds of

Autumn take flight

On this festive and frightening

Halloween night.
