LOCKPORT – Three Niagara Falls women were arraigned Friday in Niagara County Court, charged with injuring four other women in a knife fight July 10 that apparently was arranged on the Twitter social media website.
Pleading not guilty and held in lieu of $2,500 bail each were Angelina E. Wilson, 24, of 23rd Street; Jessica Levick, 28, of Falls Street; and Deasia Mays, 18, of Portage Road.
They are charged with four counts each of first-degree assault; two counts of first- and second-degree gang assault; three counts of second-degree assault; and one count of third-degree assault.
Statements to police by the defendants indicated that as many as 30 people were present for the brawl, which occurred shortly before midnight on 18th Street near a Rite Aid drugstore.
Levick told police she sprayed the four alleged victims with Mace, causing them to run away holding their eyes. Assistant District Attorney Claudette S. Caldwell said Levick claimed she did that in self-defense.
Wilson was injured in the fight and needed five stitches to close a cut. But the victims suffered wounds from Wilson allegedly swinging a razor blade, Caldwell said.
Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas ordered the defendants not to contact any of the complainants by any means, including social media.
